Impact Housing Association is an innovative, go-ahead organisation operating in Cumbria since 1975. Our name still reflects our objectives - Improvement through Action.
We still work to the principle of improving the lives of local people by driving through changes.
Our main activity is renting good quality, affordable housing and we are the major provider of Supported Accommodation in Cumbria. Regeneration in local communities is a key part of our work. We are involved in many community based services including recycling, cyber cafes and training. Impact operates as a Charity.

Audit Commission Inspection of Impact. The Audit Commission have now been on-site to carry out an inspection of our housing management services. Thanks to all staff and residents for your input. We are now awaiting the results of the inspection which will be fed back to all residents in August.
Jenkins Crag Court now open! We have recently completed our first new build sheltered and extra care housing scheme in Kendal. Jenkins Crag Court (just off Rydal Road on Sandylands estate) provides 4 two-bedroom bungalows and 33 one-bedroom flats.
The scheme offers housing and support for anyone over 55 years. For tenants who have been assessed as needing help with personal care, a 24-hour care team is also based on site. This means that should a tenant’s health needs change, care services can be delivered at home, rather than a move to residential care. There is a range of housing and social support services provided by Impact to help people remain independent and active.

All properties are self-contained and are let on an Assured Tenancy. The properties are low maintenance, with things like heating costs and garden maintenance being included in the rent.
Residents have started moving in to their new homes in the last week and interest has been high. More photos are available here or you can download a leaflet here. For more information about the scheme and the range of services on offer please don’t hesitate to contact us on 01539 729591.

Impact’s first Star Award Ceremony held at Carlisle Racecourse earlier this year turned out to be a glittering event. Live Jazz music accompanied the hot buffet lunch before Alison Coupe took to the podium to announce the finalists and winners in categories ranging from Resident Group of the Year to Personal Achievement Award. From over seventy nominations members of the Residents’ Committee Judging Panel had the difficult task of choosing winners and some members of staff were surprised at the results.
Paula McDonald (Senior Housing Assistant at our Salterbeck office) won the Environmental Achievement Award following her nomination by the Green Group who were keen to show their appreciation for Paula’s support and enthusiasm for green issues.
The Emergency Out of Hours Team claimed the ‘Going the extra mile award’ for providing assistance outside of their normal remit to residents in emergency situations.
The Special Recognition Award went to Anne Benson who works at Pategill House, Penrith for her dedication to residents at the scheme and helping with activities outside of her normal working hours.
Michael Bonner was on hand to present the awards and congratulate the winners and finalists. The moment was captured on large video screens close to the stage as well as smaller plasma screens dotted around the room creating an ‘Oscar Style’ atmosphere for all to enjoy.
Congratulations to the finalists and winners, thanks to those who submitted nominations and worked hard to make the Impact Star Award Ceremony a truly memorable event.
