DeafVision provides a variety of courses to help people learn about the language and culture of the deaf community.  We can tailor our courses to suit customer needs.

British Sign Language was recognised as a language in its own right in 2002.  Regularly used by a significant number of people it is used by over 70,000 deaf people as their preferred language for participation in every-day life.  BSL is a visual language with its own vocabulary, grammar and syntax.

Deaf and Deafblind Awareness  This course will give the learner introductory-level knowledge and understanding about deafness and deafblindness. It describes what it means to be deaf, and how deaf affects one's ability to operate in society, and what assistance is available to improve communcation between deaf and hearing people.

Communication Tactics With Deaf and Deafblind People.  The course aims to equip the learner with some simple skills for communicating with deaf or deafblind people. It is suitable for 'frontline' workers and others who may occasionally meet a deaf or deafblind person, and who wish to develop some confidence in communicating during these first encounters. 

The Disability Discrimination Act puts a responsibility on organisations to offer equality of service for disabled people.
